I took the liberty of "BOO"ing my neighbors this week. What am I talking about? Well, it's this fun little game in which you leave a treat at your neighbor's door. There is this cute little poem and sign that you leave with the treat. It's supposed to be done anonymously. So, late last Thursday night, I ran over to my neighbor's house, put the treat by the door, rang the doorbell and RAN! Sounds easy enough, right? So, I moved on to the second neighbor's home. I knew this home would be harder to "BOO" because it's located on a corner lot, thus making it very hard to flee without being spotted. So, I crept up to the door, put the treat at the door and then OH.MY.GOODNESS I hear a car coming down the street. I peered around the corner and crouched down. It's the UPS guy pulling straight up in front of the house. Immediately I see him squinting and trying to see what I'm doing. So, I wait to see if he's actually dropping off a package at this house or the house next door. Oh, ok, he's headed towards the house next door. Hurry, quick, ring the doorbell and run. So, I did. I ran. I hid on the other side of their truck that just happened to be parked on the street. And as I'm crouched down by the truck, my neighbor, the "BOO"ee, came out onto her front lawn to try and spot the "BOO"er. And wouldn't you know it? Neighbor Peter and dog Monty just happened to be walking down the road at that time and spotted some lunatic crouched down beside the truck (yes, I mean me!) So, I try to wave him by as I whisper and say that I'm playing a game. Well, Neighbor Peter understood me perfectly, but Monty . . . OH.NO.SIREEE, he wasn't having any part of that. So, Neighbor Peter is practically dragging Monty away from me, all the while the "BOO"ee is looking in our direction wondering what in the heck is going on over there! Neighbor Peter, being the good sport he is, waved her off saying something about Monty had spotted a cat. So, after the "BOO"ee had retired back to the indoors, I thought it best to explain my fun little game to Neighbor Peter and then swear him to secrecy. Needless to say . . . Y'all, I am out of shape!!!! I got home and I was so winded! Seriously! And it serves me right I guess. 'Cause this is a child's game. And what is a thirty year old women doing running around the neighborhood after dark ringin' doorbells FOR.GOODNESS.SAKE!
I know Huney . . . you must be so proud! This is the kind of stuff that I do when I'm left without my husband's supervision!
Anyhooo . . .
Stay tuned . . . 'cause tomorrow starts . . .

Little Bunny Who?
Daddy: (singing) "Little Bunny Foo Foo, hopping through the forrest, picking up the field mice and bopping them on the head!"
Me: "Is that a real song or did you make that up?"
Daddy: "Would I make up something like that?"
Minutes later . . . he googled and showed me the rest of the song.
Then, he found this You Tube.
Scary!!!! Am I the only person who had never heard this little diddy? Just wondering . . .

In Honor/Memory of My Aunt Derlie
On Sunday, October 21, 2007 at 3:30 am, my mother's sister, Derlie, passed away after a battle with ALS (aka Lou Gehrig's Disease). She was diagnosed less than a year ago. It all began with her being unable to hold things in her hands. By the time of her death, she was unable to move, completely paralyzed, unable to even swallow. This disese progressed so quickly in her.
My last visit with her was her birthday almost 2 months ago. We had a nice family gathering at her house. By that time, she was wheelchair bound and unable to move her limbs. But, she could still speak alittle. And she was aware of who was there. I took my girls to her see her. Maddy had a good time "sharing" her stickers with Aunt Derlie (and by sharing, I mean placing about 25 stickers all over Aunt Derlie). She spoke a little to me that day. She thanked me for bringing the girls and for coming to visit. We discussed Baby Lulu's hair. I told her I thought it was going to continue to be red. She disagreed and thought she would eventually have brown hair with red undertones. It's funny that these are the things that I remember from our conversation. She watched my girls intently. I blew bubbles and Maddy chased them around the yard.
I do remember that as I was leaving, I knelt down, gave her hug and told her I loved her. This is a comforting memory for me. You see, I had planned to see Aunt Derlie on Sunday morning. She passed away before I could get there.
Please say a prayer for our family. The majority of the family and extended family do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Birth Control Debate
So, have you guys read about this? The title of the article is "School Board Oks Birth Control Pill for Middle School." Did I read that correctly? Does it say Middle School? I'm not sure how you all feel about this subject, but I feel inclined to discuss it. I'm raising two girls. Granted, they are quite young now and not concerned with birth control, boys and the such. But, if we're okaying birth control here in the year 2007, what will we be okaying when they are of age and concerned about boys and all. It's such a scary thought.
I grew up in a loving Christian home. I was taught that my body belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ. It it holy temple, used for his work. It is not mine, but only loaned to me to do work for the Lord. In all honesty, I don't recall ever having the "sex" talk with my parents. I just knew that the Bible said to wait . . . and so I waited. But, I grew up, as most of us did, without internet and limited exposure to television. Our kids, unfortunately, have so much more to contend with. Sex is constantly being thrown infront of their face. And now, not only are they seeing it everywhere, the middle school that they attend will be able to hand them birth control, if they so please. I mean, am I just old fashioned, or is this idea wrong? The idea that we need to control birth at the ages between 11 and 14 is scary. In my opinion, we shouldn't be teaching them how to control birth -- we SHOULD be teaching them how to control their body and how to control emotions and urges. Am I right? And where are the parents? I stand by what I've said before . . . I've never understood why you have to take a test to drive a car, or be employed, or have a degree, but anyone is allowed to birth children. I know! I know! It would be impossible to regulate that -- but what I'm saying is that we need to think about these things! Unfortunately, it is left to the schools sometimes to raise children. There are so many absentee parents who have handed off their responsibilities to the public school system. So, it's no wonder why the school system feels that they have the authority to give your child birth control. I mean, after all, they do teach our children how to have sex . . . they are arming them with condoms . . . so, now they feel the need to control what they are teaching. And I know that there are exceptions -- this isn't happening in all schools everywhere. But wake up people -- it only took one school to remove prayer and God and bibles and the others followed suite pretty quickly. I don't know about you, but I . . . let me say it again, I, I, I want to be the one making the decisions for my children. Until the age of 18, these girls are the responsibility of my husband and myself. And if my daughters feel at some point that they are in need of birth control, I need to be involved. I need to know why? Even if it's for pure medical reasons (which there are some), I need to know!
However, on the other side of the coin . . . what about those parents who are not involved? What about the kids that are having sex and getting pregnant and unable to take care of the child because she is a child herself? I can see that the school system feels the need to step in and help these girls.
So, what do you think? If the parents have handed off their responsibilities, is it up to the school system to take over? Should they be handing out birth control?
