An Advent Carnival

My sister-in-law is hosting an Advent Carnival over here. She asked her reader's to participate by sharing inspiration, information, activity ideas, craft ideas, music and more. The main focus is "Anglican Advent Traditions", however, all are welcome to join in. If you didn't get a submission in prior to her post, feel free to leave your tradition in the comments.

Being a traditional gal and now, having a little family of my own, I'd love to start some family traditions also. So, I'm excited to hear about every one's ideas.

Head on over and see what traditions our fellow bloggers observe this time of the year.

My giveaway . . . Well, I'm giving away this beautiful Home Trends Heirloom 5x7 picture frame. It's a beautiful shade ivory with a little antique/worn detail. I have two of the 8x10 frames in this style hanging in my bedroom. It adds such elegance.

I will draw a winner with a random number generator on Saturday, November 3rd. ANYONE can enter - you don't have to have a blog. Meals Make Memories!

I'm participating in Fried Okra's "Meals Make Memories" carnival. Head on over there and check out some other lovely stories.

My most memorable meal . . . well, this will sound silly and it's pretty simple in nature. I was a young girl when my parents divorced. We spent a week with each parent, rotating throughout the year. My Dad did the best he could to take care of 3 children on his own. I think he did very well -- but that's another post altogether. Anyway, one night, my brothers and I asked,

Us: "What's for dinner?"

Dad: "It's a surprise!"

Us: "What is it daddy?"

Dad: "I told you, it's a surprise!"

We sat down at the table to find little hotdog franks wrapped in dough. It wasn't much, but they were so good! Little did we know, our surprise was actually pigs in a blanket.

From that day forward we asked for "surprises" atleast once a week.

Thanks Dad for taking the time to make something so simple into something so special.
